We’re excited to welcome Jake Barlow to the Coverdrone team as our new Marketing Manager. With a unique career path and a passion for all things digital, he’s passionate about clear communication, smart strategy, and building strong relationships with our clients. We caught up with Jake to find out more about what brought him to Coverdrone, what drives him in his work, and (of course) the all-important question of his favourite office snack.
What excited you most about joining Coverdrone?
It was the opportunity to work in a fast-growing, constantly evolving industry where technology, regulation, and innovation all come together. The drone sector is full of potential, and Coverdrone has played a key role in shaping it. As a digital marketing specialist I am a lover of all things tech, so I couldn’t wait to be part of that journey and take the chance to apply my skills in all sorts of meaningful ways. I may specialise in digital marketing, but relationship building is a huge part of how I approach the job – I love turning complex messages into clear, helpful content that serves customers.
Can you tell us a little about your background and experience?
I’m not your typical marketer! After graduating from the University of Oxford with a degree in Classics, I spent seven years as a professional classical musician, performing across the UK and internationally. In 2020, I made the leap into marketing full time and haven’t looked back. Since then, I’ve worked across a range of sectors from medical aesthetics to fuels. I’m also an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. Now, I’m thrilled to bring my blend of creativity, discipline, and strategic thinking to the world of drone insurance.
What do you think makes Coverdrone stand out in the industry?
To put it simply: experience, consistency, and care. As the first company to offer specialist drone insurance nearly 20 years ago, Coverdrone has helped shape the industry as we know it. That legacy means something. It continues to drive the business to this day, and it’s backed up by a real commitment to quality products and first-class customer support. There’s a level of care here, in how products are built, in how support is delivered, and in how the team works, that really sets Coverdrone apart. That’s the kind of brand I want to represent.
What are you most looking forward to working on this year?
I’ve come in at an exciting time for the business, and I am jumping straight in! I am particularly about rolling out the rest of our rebrand. It’s a fantastic project that shows just how much Coverdrone’s image has evolved over the years, and I can’t wait to show you what’s coming next. I’m also excited to attend more industry events and connect with clients and partners face-to-face. For me, that’s where the real magic happens, and it helps to shape my work – building relationships, listening, learning, and celebrating everything this amazing industry has to offer.
Coffee or tea – and what’s your go-to snack at work?
Most definitely coffee, strong and often! I’m not much of a habitual snacker during work, but if I do reach for something, it’s probably Mini Cheddars (original flavour only, of course). That said, I’m never one to turn down a good Bourbon biscuit!
We’re thrilled to have Jake on board as we continue to grow, evolve, and support our drone community. Keep an eye out for updates, content, and events — and if you see Jake at a show, don’t be afraid to say hello (especially if you’re holding a coffee).
