Providing the following information will help us resolve your claim more efficiently and quickly. Having these details ready when submitting your claim form can help prevent delays and speed things up.
- Pre-flight and on-site survey
- Photos or videos of the incident
- Operator ID
- Copy of ‘Ops’ manual
- Certificate from the relevant aviation authority (where available)
- Proof of purchase/ownership

- Crime Reference Number (theft claims only)

I’ve filled out the claim form online. What happens next?
You will receive a confirmation email to advise that the claim form has been submitted to us. There is no need to do anything further at this stage. The Claims Team will review the information provided as soon as possible and get in touch with you directly to confirm the next steps of your claim or to request any further information required from you.
How long will it take to settle my claim?
Every claim is different so we can’t say exactly how long it’ll take. We’ll do everything we can to resolve it as quickly as possible and keep you updated along the way. A quick response to any queries raised from our Claims Team and ensuring you supply us with the correct documentation at the start of the claim will help to speed up the process and avoid any unwanted delays.
I have a commercial policy but the incident occurred whilst flying recreationally. Which claim form should I fill out?
It does not matter if you were flying recreationally. If you have a commercial policy with us, please complete the [Commercial Claims Form] to notify us of your claim.
Is there a limit on the number of claims I can make in a policy period?
There is no limit on the number of claims that can be made throughout the policy period. However, please be advised that multiple claims may affect the premium quoted on your next policy renewal.

While flying a DJI Mini 4 Pro in good weather conditions, the client received a weak signal warning from the controller. Acting quickly, they activated the Return to Home feature. Unfortunately, the controller lost complete signal with the drone, causing it to fall from the sky. Despite searching the area, the client was unable to locate it.
- Claim acknowledged by the team with a request to provide the flight data
- Client was out of the country so unable to provide flight data until his return, delaying progress of the claim
- Once flight data received, claim was quickly accepted and a like-for-like replacement was sourced through Drone Safe Store
- Coverdrone paid the full price of the replacement drone, minus the policy excess payable by the client
- The replacement drone was sent directly to the client using a next day delivery service
- Claim paid in full
- Resolved within 20 days

During a flight over a viaduct in good weather conditions, the client’s Potensic Atom drone collided with tall reeds, lost connection, and fell into the fast-moving water below. Due to strong currents and limited visibility, the client was unable to recover the drone.

- The client provided all information upfront, so we were able to progress the claim without any delays
- Coverdrone approved and settled the claim for full amount, minus the policy excess payable by the client

Shortly after taking off following a battery change, the client accidentally flew their DJI Mini 2 into the wall of a nearby property. Thankfully, there was no third-party damage, but the drone sustained breaks to the rear arm and battery door hinge.

- We asked the client to send the drone to one of our approved repairers, Heliguy, using a packing label supplied to ensure client did not pay any delivery charges
- Heliguy inspected the drone and provide an estimate for repair
- Repair costs were subsequently approved and paid by Coverdrone, minus the policy excess payable by the client
- Heliguy repaired the drone and delivered back to the client in full working order
