Why Do I Need To Register?

The registration is free and it creates your Coverdrone account so that you can log back in later to choose a period of cover.

As long as you are flying within the rules and regulations and have any relevant permissions/qualifications/licences that are required then our policy will cover you. To find out more, we recommend that you contact your local aviation authority or training centre to find out what you need to fly.

Yes. Public and Aviation Liability insurance is a legal requirement for commercial drone pilots in most countries. If you are unsure, we advise you to check with your local aviation authority or training centre.

No, you can choose to insure for just liability only if you wish. You can always add any equipment onto the policy later if you need to.

Yes. Many of our clients work on large-scale or government contracts, and we’re happy to provide the documentation and cover levels often required by public sector or corporate partners. Just let us know if you need anything specific.

Yes, we are able to offer policies to the Emergency Services and other State Entities.

Yes, we work with many Training Centres offering bespoke policy wordings, it’s always worth contacting us to discuss any specific requirements.

Yes, we just ask that you fully comply with the local/national aviation regulations.

Our policies support operations in most international territories (with a few exclusions). Please ensure that you comply with any local/national aviation regulations.

Worldwide cover is provided as standard subject to the following excluded territories, if you need to operate your drone(s) in any of the following territories please contact us for a quote:

North Korea, Iran, Russia, Crimea, Ukraine and Belarus, Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Nagorno-Karabakh, North Caucasian Federal District, Somalia, The Republic of Sudan, South Sudan, Burundi, Cabinda, Central African Republic, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Mauritania, Georgia, Pakistan

Any country where the operation of the insured Aircraft is in breach of United Nations sanctions.

Yes, we just ask that you fully comply with the local/national aviation regulations.

Yes, provided you have the necessary aviation authority permissions in place and have selected BVLOS operations cover when setting up your policy.

If you have selected equipment cover, policy coverage would extend to disappearance which would include the term ‘flyaway’.

No, we just ask that you take all reasonable precautions to avoid an incident.

No. You can operate your drone(s) as much or as little as you like.

If you have selected equipment cover, your equipment is covered whether in transit, in storage or in flight.

Yes. If you select equipment cover when setting up your policy, your drone and related items such the control station, data links, telemetry, communications, navigation equipment, and all of the associated support equipment necessary to operate the drone. If the drone is being controlled by a laptop or iPad or the like these items are included as Ground Based equipment only whilst being used to control the insured drone.

Ground equipment means any equipment used by the Insured for the purpose of Aerial Work including any ground photography equipment used for the Insureds business.

Yes. You can choose from various levels of public liability cover, and you can manage this in your online account as required.

Our policy offers cover for invasion of privacy and data breaches under our Liability section, if you require these covers, you would need to select to include Public Liability when setting your policy up.

Yes. You can insure a range of items including controllers, tablets, spare batteries, cameras, and other related equipment used for the purpose of aerial work. As a commercial operator you can also include ground photography equipment under this section.

Yes. We cover the drone whilst it is in flight providing you have selected equipment cover when purchasing your policy.

Yes. You can select that cover when setting up your policy. There will need to be a hiring agreement in place with the owner of the drone.

Yes, you may add replacement drone cover as part of your policy, either when you purchase or at a later date. This will pay necessary and reasonably incurred expenses to enable you to fulfil contractual obligations of contracts between you and third parties.

Yes, we can cover as many drones as required on one policy – you can add them either when you purchase your policy or add them later on.

Yes, there is no restriction to the number of operators we can cover on a commercial policy. Your Coverdrone policy insures the organisation, so you can add as many operators as are operating on behalf of the organisation insured.

Yes, as standard our policies would cover an operator whilst carrying out training/practice flights. We do restrict the level of Liability cover offered to trainee operators, this amount will be outlined on your policy schedule.

Yes, once registered, you will be able to choose from either 1-6 days, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months or 12 months. Renewing is as simple as visiting your Coverdrone online account.

We offer a rolling monthly policy, that will automatically renew each month using a card chosen by you. We also offer a Direct Debit payment plan for commercial clients based in the UK purchasing annual cover, this consists of 12 monthly instalments and details will be provided to you with your quotation. 

Yes, you can amend your policy at any time during the term. Just log in to your Coverdrone account, go to your active policy, and make the changes you need. Your documents will update automatically, and we’ll let you know if there’s any change to the premium.
